My perspective of Born into Coal saw it as both a human interest, and standard documentary. I thought that the intention was to show both sides when and after watching the video. With including the pageant and a different perspective from the daughter of a coal miner and a miner himself gave the documentary a strong depth.

I like this shot because it gives the viewer a very personal relationship with someone and the black back round. The black back round is something that i believe could easily include in our documentary. We could re create it by doing close up shot at the hub green screen in the library ad then simply change the back round to black. This shot contributes to the documentary as a whole by allowing to specify each persons feelings totally apart from the others. It also contributes a large amount of emotion to the documentary as well. Lastly this shot stood out to me because i really like seeing the white text other the black round, I am not sure why I like it but it gives it a sharp appeal.

Rise of the NBA nerd

In this article Morris is trying to tell us that even though that we all used to see the black stereotype run true in the clothes they wore, now the NBA stars want to change this so they decide to dress very professional and one might even call it nerdy. Morris's central argument is that the style has changed over the years and now black superstars want to put on a different persona along with different clothes that best fit this persona. I believe that what we wear can be an argument and can defiantly be political as well. What you wear is often this first thing someone notices about you, and can have a very big impact especially when you are dressed like Carlton. This players are making a political statement with their clothes and saying that they do have class and should not be stereotyped. In conclusion I do have one thing to say about tho article that bugged me quite a bit, at the end of the article Morris says that Howard acted gay when a reporter told him that color looked good on him was totally misunderstood. Telling Howard that he shouldn't be wearing a cardigan if he thinks his cardigans are gay is completely taken out of context really tells us a to about the author. If Morris had extensive knowledge about the NBA and Howard he would know that he is one of the most fun, outgoing, and silly players in the league. He wasn't trying to make a point to the reporter he was goofing off like always.
